Virtual Trip to:

Dec 8-10, 1999
I started from an old friend's apartment in Santa Barbara
and climbed up the 4000 ft pass from see level.
My plan was to ride down the other side into a canyon in search of
Big Caliente Hot Springs and a campground nearby. It was a beautiful day.
I carried a heavy, but minimal pack on my back.
Inventory check:
Cyber Glasses,
Minimal food and water,
Walkman,
digital camera,
old, heavy, ratty sleeping bag,
Jack Keroac book,
a quarter filled flask of whiskey,
a lighter,
a pot for boiling water,
and not much else.
I left the paved rode after 7 miles of climbing.
Little did I realize, but I would not see another human being for the next 30
hours.
The trail took me down to a dammed reservoir
Then to Gilbratar's Mine...
